Daniel Saksa

Hello! My name is Daniel
Saksa and I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Salish Coast family as a 4th grade teacher. For the past twelve years, I have taught 4th grade, primary, and reading in San Diego where I also wrote the district math curriculum and served on the pilot team for English Language Arts and Math curriculum. I am a very strong proponent of the Growth Mindset for all learners in all aspects of life. I was born and raised in San Diego where I attended UC San Diego and then graduated with a B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Tech, Pomona. I worked in environmental design for many years until I pursued my multi-subject teaching credential. I have coached youth sports for over twenty years. My wife and I are now realizing our dream of living on the peninsula after moving here this April. We fell in love with this area and the people more each time we came to visit. We have four adult children (two boys and two girls) and two pets-our Ragdoll cat, Mochi, and Charlotte, our tarantula. When I’m not teaching, my wife and I like to spend as much time outdoors as we can hiking, biking, and camping. I enjoy photography, reading, and guitar as seriously fun hobbies. I have been fortunate to be part of an outreach team that served the people of Cambodia and the Yucatán, as well as having the recent opportunity to visit Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan. I feel blessed to have the opportunity and responsibility of being an elementary school teacher. I look forward to meeting you, serving the community of Port Townsend, and living in what my wife and I feel is one of the most beautiful areas in the world.
