I grew up in
Walla Walla, WA and moved to Tacoma to attend the University of Puget Sound.
Upon graduating with a degree in Philosophy, I quickly decided to pursue a
career in teaching. With my now-husband, I attended the University of
Washington Tacoma Master of Arts in education program, earning endorsements in
Elementary and Special Education as well as Middle Level Humanities and Middle
Level Math. I spent my first year of teaching as a Title 1 math interventionist
and then transitioned to a K-5 Special Education Resource Room teacher role. In
these positions I had the good fortune of working with traditionally
underserved students. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed the nearly five years
teaching at my current school, I am overjoyed to be moving to Port Townsend. I
am so excited to have the opportunity to raise my baby girl in Port Townsend,
where she can enjoy membership in a close-knit and progressive community that
is embedded in the beautiful nature that surrounds it. Port Townsend will be
the perfect place for my family to explore the outdoors and spend time on the
water. I can’t wait to begin this new chapter with my family in the City of
Dreams!
